About Don
I am committed to providing you the highest quality service and draw from a wide range of approaches and training. I have experience from a variety of clinical settings and work comfortably with a diverse group of clients: age, background, gender, and sexual orientation. I work extensively with clients diagnosed AD/HD (Attention Deficit Disorder), with couples and/or individuals with relationship difficulties, those seeking interpersonal skills development/improvement; and with clients experiencing issues related to their sexual orientation.
It's my belief that there aren't a lot of places where we feel safe enough to be who we are without having to create a mask or facade to experience the intimacy and the community we seek. Interestingly, the same walls and defenses that protect us can isolate us if the walls are consistently up.
In my work, I attempt to create a place that feels safe enough for you to let down your defenses and share more of who you really are. My style is interactive, personable, and supportive. I make every attempt to recognize your tremendous value as an individual, your vulnerability, and yet enormous potential.
I feel that it's within the context of the relationship you and I establish that change occurs. Together, we will work towards the clarification of your needs, clarify issues that you bring into our meetings or that arise in the course of our work together, and assist you in finding ways to achieve change. The course of our work may be short term where the focus is on situational difficulties, or longer term, where the focus is more on internalized difficulties.

My undergraduate degree is from the University of Washington in Seattle. My Masters in Psychology degree was earned Antioch University in Seattle. I am a Licensed Mental Health counselor in the State of Washington and am a member of the American Counseling Association. I was born and raised locally and moved away for several years. I'm back here in Washington State by choice. I spend the majority of my free time skiing, climbing, and enjoying the wilderness areas close to the Seattle metro area.
